ARCHIVED PHOTOS (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

Archiving photos allows us to keep photos online longer so you can view and purchase photos taken of your child in past seasons. Our shopping cart vendor offers us a reduced fee to house these older photos, but charges us each time they are accessed. For this reason, we require you to pre-buy at least $10 worth of photos before access is granted. Logging in and paying the $10 access fee should immediately generate a $10 gift code sent to the email you enter. If you cannot find this code in your email, check your spam or junk mail folders. Access and the $10 code may be used for the next three days and will then expire.

DELIVERY (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

St. John Photography offers three options for photo delivery.

DIGITAL IMAGES

Today, purchasing a digital image of a photograph is like buying the “negative.” (I bet you haven’t heard that term in awhile!) But today, we speak of digital images in terms of high resolution and low resolution. A high resolution image will grant you the ability to print multiple copies of a photo in almost any size you wish. For this reason, “high-res” images are not inexpensive. We still prefer that you have all prints made by our studio. We color balance and retouch the digital image to print well with our in house and third party printers. Printing photos elsewhere may result in reduced quality prints where photos will have a bluish, greenish or reddish tint; or print paper and processes that are substandard. Low-resolution digital images from St. John Photography are not meant to be printed at any size. Low-res images are for Face book, screensavers, phone backgrounds, DVD slide shows, and email sharing with friends.

DISPLAY PHOTOS (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

All photos used for display with a particular school are intended for that specific school audience only. If your child has been chosen for display at the school or on the school’s web page, you may elect to have the photo removed; however, we feel that having sample enlargements of some of the more playful children at a school helps to increase the school’s fundraiser by suggesting larger or multiple enlargements. These displays are usually kept by the school for display after the event and should not be given to parents. We feel that our enlargement prices are reasonable – so using a “display” photo in your home instead of purchasing an actual enlargement is unnecessary. Not purchasing an enlargement also impacts negatively on your school’s fundraiser.

FACULTY DISCOUNT (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

Faculty members who have children attending the school where photos were taken are entitled to a discount on photos only. Please contact your administrator for the discount which you can enter during the online checkout process after you have chosen photos. Merchandise and frames are not subject to the faculty discount as we must often order these items through a third party vendor allowing substantially reduced margins.

FUNDRAISERS (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

Most of the schools we shoot are structured as a fundraiser. 15% of all photos sales (less tax) are given back to the school. Discounted photos such as faculty purchases are not included in the fundraiser. The fundraiser percentage for merchandise and frames purchased is usually less (5%) as we often purchase these items from a third party vendor and therefore experience significantly less of a margin on these items. Fundraiser percentages are only calculated on orders received during the first order period when the Free 5x7 is still offered. With orders we receive after this deadline, the fundraiser portion is used by St. John Photography for archival and retrieval expenses. For this reason, we encourage administrators to do everything they can to help their parents order within this time frame if at all possible. Exceptions will be made in cases where rain or other delay significantly affects these numbers.

HOW LONG WILL PHOTOS REMAIN ONLINE (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

Generally, photos remain online for three to ten weeks after they have been taken and are then moved to our “Archived Photo” area. There is no “extra” cost to access archived photos, however, you will be required to pre-buy at least $10 worth of photos before they can be viewed. (See archived photos section).

PRICING AND DELIVERY

All prices are stated in US dollars and are valid until altered by St. John Photography. If your order is to be mailed, we will notify you by phone or email to confirm shipment. St. John Photography is not responsible for shipping delays due to weather, natural disaster, or causes beyond our shipping carrier’s control. All orders are shipped USPS regular mail. Although most US Postal Service orders typically take 3-5 mailing days to arrive, these estimates are not guaranteed and USPS mailing times of up to 10 days can occur.

PRIVACY

When you create an account with St. John Photography, you need to provide some personal information, such as your name, email address, and mailing address. We protect and use this information for statistical analysis, product development, content improvement and marketing purposes. We will not give, sell or share your personal information with any third parties.

PROOF QUALITY

Because we take literally thousands and thousands of photos each day, proofs are all printed at the same exposure. For this reason, proofs will sometimes appear too light or too dark. With any enlargements you order, the color, contrast and density will be adjusted for a perfect print.

RETOUCHING (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

Kids get dirty, so on every photo – we adjust brightness and contrast, clean your child’s complexion, scars, dirt, runny noses and stains on shirt. If there are minor retouching notes we should know about such as whether we should leave or remove a child’s birthmark or mole, a comment can be entered in the “comments” section online when you are checking out. For more complex retouching such as removing other individuals from the background, fixing unkempt hair or opening eyes, an additional retouching charge may be required. Please contact our office if you believe additional retouching may be needed.

RETOUCHING (PRIVATE SESSIONS)

When St. John Photography shoots your family privately, all retouching is included in the enlargement price. We feel that you will be better served if you order these photos in our studio with a retouching expert. You can discuss how you would like photos cropped, what should be done in terms of minor changes and if anything major will be needed such as moving one individual’s head or smile from one photo to another.

SIBLING SHOOTS (SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY)

(St. John Photography’s sibling shoot policy has many facets and may be misunderstood. Read the following and then contact our office for additional clarification if you wish.) Siblings may or may not be shot at the school during our regular morning shoots without a sitting fee, however this is designed only for families where ALL siblings regularly attend the school. Some schools do not have enough staff to walk younger siblings to the older sibling’s classes for photos, so sibling photos are not taken. For families where some of the siblings attend other schools or with schools who elect NOT to have us shoot siblings during the regular morning shoot, we will sometimes schedule an AFTERNOON “sibling” shoot. Families may reserve a 10 minute block of time for $25 where we will take as many photos as possible during that time – but only guarantee at least one acceptable photograph of the sibling or family grouping (other photos are taken only as time permits). Families may purchase two blocks of time for $50 if they would like to insure that additional photos will be taken. Afternoon sibling/family shoots are only for families where at least one child attends the affiliated school.
